Descrizione

The Church of Sant’Antonio is located in via San’t Antonio in Dro. The church of Sant’Antonio is located where until the seventeenth century there was a capital with the image of the same saint of Padua. The erection began in 1661 and ended in 1677. It was consecrated in 1673 by Bishop Sigismund Alphonsus of Thun.

From the last decade the church can be considered finished with all the furnishings and representations. It is said that thanks to the Saint the village of Dro in 1703 was practically saved from the fire and from the looting of the raids of the army of the French general Vendôme who was begged not to hurt the community because of Saint Anthony of whom they knew to be devoted.

The following centuries remained a fixed point as a place of devotion. In 1995 there was an important restoration of the structure. The most significant intervention began in 2002 and ended in 2005, intervening on both plaster, painting and paintings.
